Abstract

In the recent several years, the interest for hearing aids has been rapidly growing with increasing demand and supply.
Though the hearing aid is a delicate electro-acoustic instrument costing the wearer high enough there has been nearly no attension paid to hearing aid selection and evaluation problems as yet. For too many things people rely upon unqualified hearing aid dealers. The Hearing and Speech Center of Severance hospital began to deal with this hearing aid selection and evaluation program two years ago and could gain a good deal of valuable experiences. With 4hese experiences, the author intended to have a review of hearing aid problems.
In the part regarding components of hearing aid, the author tried to explain the function of different components of hearing aids and the electrical characteristics were reviewed in another part. Types and models of hearing aid were also reviewed with special consideration of special hearing aids of recent make. Finally actual problems hearing aid in use were considered with emphasis on how to use, how to maintain and how to check the troubles.
